1. What is the in-app call feature?
It’s a new way for riders and drivers to call each other directly through the Ryde app — no need to use your personal phone line.
In-app calls offer better privacy and convenience. Your number stays hidden, and you won’t need to switch between the app and your phone dialer.
2. Do I need to allow any permissions?
Yes. You’ll need to allow microphone access for the app to enable voice communication.
As long as you have notifications and microphone access enabled, you'll be alerted to an incoming in-app call.
3. What should I do if I can't hear the other person?
Try these steps:
- Check your volume settings
- Ensure your mic permission is enabled
- If the problem persists, hang up and call again or use chat
4. What to do if in-app call failed
If the in-app call doesn’t go through, you can still use the in-app chat or contact the other party via SMS or a masked number.
In-app calls require a stable internet connection. If your connection is weak, the call quality may be affected or may not go through.
You can report issues through the app under RydeHelp > Contact Support. We’d love to hear your feedback!
5. Can I use regular phone calls?
In-app calling is the default option. However, if you have no internet, the system will automatically use a regular phone call.
