Ryde upholds a firm policy regarding violations of the Code of Conduct, to which our independent driver and delivery partners are held accountable as members of the Ryde community. This Guideline outlines specific breaches of the Code of Conduct that may lead to the suspension or termination of access to the Ryde platform.
Maintain proper documentation to drive.
You must hold a valid national driving and vocational license at all times and other permits as may be required by the relevant authorities. You and your vehicle must also be covered with valid insurance as stipulated by local regulations. Be truthful about your criminal record. It is your responsibility to update and resubmit your documents when they expire if they are revoked or as and when requested by Ryde.
The driver should maintain the cleanliness of his/her vehicle so that he/she can provide his/her customers with a comfortable ride. Drivers are strictly prohibited from smoking in their vehicles. The driver should check accessories (e.g. air-con, safety belt, cashless terminal keypad) regularly to ensure that they are in proper repair or good order, and send them for repairs as soon as possible.
The driver should dress professionally and in a manner that is safe and comfortable for driving. As a general rule of thumb, the driver should have on a collared shirt or collared t-shirt, long pants and covered shoes.
Assault, harassment or abuse of any kind will not be tolerated.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to any form of misconduct or inappropriate behavior between drivers and passengers. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Attempted or Actual Physical Assault
- Verbal or Physical Sexual Harassment
- Rape
- Murder
- Kidnapping
- Threats and Intimidation
- Unwanted Sexual Advances
These behaviors are strictly prohibited, whether consensual or otherwise. Additionally, drivers must not ask overly personal questions, comment on anyone’s appearance, or contact passengers after a trip for personal reasons. In any dispute, drivers must not take matters into their own hands but follow the appropriate reporting procedures.
Do not commit crimes.
You may be penalized under the prevailing law if you commit any criminal acts such as theft, robbery, possession of illicit materials or weapons, acts of vandalism or damage to property. We will work closely with law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute offenders.
Follow road safety laws.
Do not commit traffic violations or drive recklessly that may endanger the lives of our users, and other road users and pedestrians. This includes complying with regulatory or traffic laws, and speed limits, obeying road signals and traffic lights, using the use of hands-free kits while operating vehicles, and ensuring your passengers (if any) wear a seatbelt. You should always wear a seatbelt. Avoid operating your vehicle for long hours and take sufficient breaks.
Alcohol, drugs and weapons are not tolerated.
Do not consume drugs or alcohol while you are on the Ryde platform. Illegal substances, open containers of alcohol and weapons are not permitted in your vehicle. If a user or member of the public believes you may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they have the right to end the booking immediately and alert Ryde or the authorities. Do not accept or deliver illegal items and/or dangerous goods, including any special requests from users for goods and/or services that are not part of Ryde’s services. If you have reason to suspect the nature of the contents of your parcel, please notify Ryde and the authorities.
Practice good hygiene.
Maintain good personal hygiene at all times. Please do your part to ensure a safe environment for your customers, your family, and yourself.
Visual display unit
Do not have iPads on your dashboards (where such visual display can be a distraction) is not allowed under rule 126 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction and Use) Rules. In this rule — “ERP facility” and “in-vehicle unit” have the same meanings as in the Road Traffic (Electronic Road Pricing System) Rules (R 38); “visual display unit” means any appliance or electronic system that displays information in the form of images or words on a screen.
