1. Why was my RydePOOL ride switched to RydeX?
If we can’t find a RydePOOL match after 90 seconds, we’ll automatically switch your booking to a RydeX. This helps increase the likelihood of finding you a driver sooner, so you can get on your way faster.
There’s no need to cancel or make a new booking. We’ll handle the switch automatically and continue searching for a driver while keeping your booking details the same.
2. Will I be notified before the switch and when my booking is switched?
Yes. Before you confirm your booking, we’ll show you the reserved RydeX fare and the time window during which your booking will automatically switch if no RydePOOL match is found.
While we’re searching for a driver, you’ll also see the switching time in the app. If your booking is switched to RydeX, we’ll notify you via a push notification.
Your pickup location, destination, and all other booking details will remain unchanged.
3. Will the fare change?
Yes, the fare may change. RydePOOL and RydeX are different ride services with different fares.
When you book a RydePOOL ride, we’ll also show you a reserved RydeX fare upfront. This fare will only apply if your booking is automatically switched to RydeX.
If your booking remains as a RydePOOL ride, you’ll pay the RydePOOL fare. If it’s switched to RydeX, you’ll pay the pre-reserved RydeX fare shown at the time of booking.
The final fare will be reflected in the app, and you’ll only be charged based on the service type of your completed trip.
4. Can I choose not to switch to RydeX?
Auto-switch is designed to help you get matched with a driver sooner, so RydePOOL bookings will automatically switch to RydeX if no match is found within the waiting period.
If you no longer wish to continue with the booking after it has switched, you may cancel before a driver is matched. Please note that the standard cancellation policy may apply.
5. My payment method has enough balance for RydePOOL, why can’t I book it?
Because your booking may be automatically switched to RydeX, your selected payment method must have sufficient funds or available credit to cover the reserved RydeX fare to ensure a smooth booking experience.
6. Why is a higher amount temporarily held on my payment method?
When you book a RydePOOL ride, we may temporarily authorise or hold the reserved RydeX fare on your payment method.
This is not an additional charge. It’s a temporary authorisation that allows your booking to switch seamlessly to RydeX if no RydePOOL match is found.
If your trip is completed as a RydePOOL ride, you’ll only be charged the RydePOOL fare. Any unused authorised amount will be released by your bank or payment provider according to their processing timeline.
7. Does auto-switch affect how I pay for my trip?
No. Your selected payment method will remain the same.
You’ll only be charged the final fare for the service you completed. If a higher amount was temporarily authorised, any unused amount will be released or refunded by your bank or payment provider.
